"At a certain point, I couldn't stand to see someone with the same pair of kicks as me. Maybe because I didn’t have the money to buy a new pair at the same time as the rest of the in-crowd. I needed my fresh to last longer. My creativity was in hyper drive. I started to paint, color and dye brand new sneakers just to make sure they were one-off. I was always excited to debut them. If only my friends knew how many times I came to school with colorful damp socks because I was too impatient to wait another day to let my exclusive kicks dry. Scarcity is the mother of innovation."

My mother: “Twenty-three?! What the heck does a twenty-three-year-old woman have in common with a sixteen-year-old boy?” 

"You know you’re shopping in an expensive zip code, when its winter and they warm your jeans for you before you try them on. My goodness! Did that feel amazing? Good Lawd, we should have invested our money better. But really, warm jeans in the winter!"

"They made her fully aware of her prized processions. Because of this constant reminder, she valued her assets for their advantage. Unfortunately, inner beauty wasn’t highlighted. If the fruit looked ripe to the eye it was going to be picked. If the calf looked well fed, the chopping block prepared for veal. Guys can be relentless.
